Businesses whose operations require that they take customers’ autos into their care, custody or control have unique exposures. Their legal liability associated with bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party while in possession of these non-owned autos presents substantial risk. Also, it is reasonable for the customer to expect their vehicle to be returned to them in no worse condition than when they left it and that any requested work be done properly.
Whether your client offers true garage services such as maintenance or repair of customer autos, simple customer convenience operations like valet services and parking garage operations or other services such as full-service carwash and/or detailing services, Commercial General Liability forms have limitations and outright exclusions that force the insurance professional to identify, analyze, control, finance and administer an effective risk management plan.
This presentation will concentrate on using the ISO Commercial General Liability Coverage Form, the Business Auto Coverage Form, and several important endorsements to manage the uncertainty associated with these operations.
